How can it be the last day of the year?! 2016 has held a lot of good times and a few not-so-good times, but, overall, I'm so thankful for all the events that happened this year because a lot were pretty monumental- in my personal life and my business...
I started the year by traveling to Washington D.C. in January to attend my very first photography conference with friends. February brought my 21st birthday and a party with some fabulous people. In March, I adopted my favorite snuggle buddy, Oslo Baby and planned and executed my very first styled shoot. I went on to have three more in June, July, and September respectively. This summer I completed my first corporate internship as a full-time 9-5 employee living on my own in the Queen City, and I started my senior year of college shortly after. Since then, I have been able to participate in my first bridal show, invest in a Katelyn James Workshop (which will be happening next year) and a brand new camera body! But most of all, I am so thankful for all the connections I have made this year. I have made so many new friends in and out of the photography world, and that has made this year a really awesome one. 2016 was not perfect, but I've grown more as a person and within my business more than I ever have, and I'm thankful that this year has left me refreshed and ready to grab up all the opportunity 2017 has for me.
I'm heading to a little New Years Eve get-together with friends tonight, but I hope you enjoy this little recap of my favorite moments in photography for 2016. I love my clients so much, and it was hard to narrow this down!! Happy New Year! Let's make it our best yet!
Y'ALL, these two are #relationshipgoals. I mean, they are so cute and were just perfect in front of my camera. But it makes sense that my camera loved them because this wasn't their first rodeo. Gabriela & Albert are married and have their photos done a few times every year. When they told me that, my heart skipped a beat. And it just got sweeter! They said their most recent photoshoots have included settings like a big city and even one in an amusement park. YES! So cool, right?! Now that they have recently moved to Clemson so that Gabriela can teach here, they wanted to do a portrait session surrounded by nature, so we ventured to the SC Botanical Garden and then to Lake Keowee. My favorite part though? Gabriela could not stop giggling throughout the session, and it was the most adorable thing ever. Albert truly makes her so happy, and it shows in her expression. I hope you love these almost as much as these two love each other!
I made this yummy holiday treat for a Christmas party last weekend, and it was such a hit, I wanted to share it with you on the blog! I got this recipe from Created by Diane and tweaked it just a little bit. If you love cranberries, you have to try this recipe. The sweet pie combined with the tartness of the cranberries made it a crowd favorite. There was not a crumb left when I brought it to the party!! Only 11 days till Christmas!
I went to high school with Juliet, so when I got an email about shooting her engagement party, I was really excited! They had their closest friends and family join them at City Range, and it was so perfect. Part way into the party, we got a chance to sneak away to take some portraits of them outside. It was a little rainy, but that did not stop these two and their enthusiasm. Later in the party, they shared the story of how they got engaged. Tyler took Juliet to one of her favorite restaurants, Papas & Beer, and he had given the ring to the waiter to bring out with dessert. Juliet had no idea, and Tyler had to make up an excuse for getting flan because these two don't usually get dessert when they go out. Long story short, the waiter never showed with the ring, and Tyler was super worried as his future fiance (at the time) was happily eating her flan. Tyler heard her say, "Is this real?!" He looked up and found Juliet holding the ring she had found inside the flan!! How cute is that? Tyler was so relieved that the waiter hadn't made off with the ring, he almost forgot to get down on one knee and propose. I just love these two and know you will too!!
How sweet are Juliet and her big brother?!
The countdown is in the single digits, and we are only days away from Christmas break! I don't know about you, but this has been my craziest week all year. I've had everything from interviews to quizzes and not to mention four group presentations in just this week alone. But it's all over! And I could not be more thankful! To celebrate, I'm changing things up a little on the blog today. Last month, my beautiful senior reps participated in my Fall styled shoot that we got to host at the cutest little farm complete with real live horses. I mean, could it get an dreamier than that? To top it all off, my good friends over at Bloom 95 made us some gorgeous flower crowns to complete each girl's look. The day couldn't have been more perfect, and I am just so thankful for the group of girls that are part of my inagural team of Nichole Lauren 2017 Senior Representatives. To be honest, I was a little nervous when I launched the senior rep application over the summer. I didn't know what to expect or whether it would be worth the investment of time and effort. But God really provided the right fit and gave me each of these three wonderful girls who are truly beautiful inside and out! Can't wait for you to see this beautiful Fall-inspired shoot and to meet each one of these lovely ladies!
P.S. Ask any one of these ladies for the details on how to get a sweeet discount for your next portrait session!!
I'm Maddie, and I love finding and capturing that perfect picture or exploring cool places to take pictures. I'm in Honor Choir at my school and we just recently sang at the Biltmore Estate! I'm also working on a video production for my speech and drama class which has been super fun! When I'm not doing school, I like to bake in the kitchen with my mom or just simply watch Netflix in bed while eating my favorite crackers with hummus and cheese.
I'm Sarah. I'm a baton twirler at my high school and twirl batons and fire batons with our band at our half time show at football games! I love the outdoors, hiking, and beautiful views! I'm in honor council at my school and do a lot with our student council. My two favorite things are sushi and Netflix! I'm hopefully going to the University of South Carolina next year and trying out to twirl there my sophomore year! Being a senior rep has been so much fun already, I've loved meeting the girls and having the most fun taking pictures together! I'm so excited for all the memories we will make this year!
Hey! I'm Laihana! Fun facts about me are that I love soccer! I play for a local club team, and it has been a passion of mine for a while. I love the outdoors and hope to one day be a pediatrician. I am the secretary the medical club at my school and very involved in the Key Club. I enjoy helping our community! Another big part of my senior year I'm looking forward to is the EMT program I will be taking at the local tech school as part of an early college enrollment class. I will be an EMT by the time we graduate high school in a few months! I have loved being a Nichole Lauren Photography Senior Rep! I love how Nichole captures our senior moments to the finest, and it's a bonus to have met Sarah and Maddie as well! 2017 is going to be a great year for us!
I love travel and adventure. I love seeing things from new perspectives. I love to find good food in exciting places. And I love making moments last for as long as possible.
